What is the Metrics tab in PHAWorks RA Edition?

Metrics evaluates the contents of PHA studies to provide insights into the safety of processes and the quality of studies. Measures of process safety and study quality are compared with norms to identify possible deviations that may need to be addressed in order to assure the safety of processes and the quality of PHA studies. It provides a list of questions for a project, each with an underlying analytic that provides the answer to the question, and norms for the purpose of comparison.

Metrics is not available available for all templates and options may vary between templates.

Available Metrics:

Safety

  • Is the percentage of scenarios with high risk within norms?
  • Is the percentage of scenarios with high severity within norms?
  • Which nodes have the most scenarios?
  • Which nodes have the most scenarios causes
  • Which nodes have the most high risk scenarios?
  • Which nodes have the most high consequence severity scenarios?
  • Is the balance between equipment failures, human failures, and external events as scenario cause within norms?
  • Which nodes are most susceptible to human failures?
  • Is the number of safeguards per consequence, including any IPL safeguards, within norms?
  • Is the number of IPL safeguards per consequence within norms?
  • Is the balance between human and engineered safeguards within norms?
  • Is the balance between passive and active safeguards within norms?
  • Is the balance between prevention and mitigation safeguards within norms?
  • Is the number of recommendations per node within norms?
  • Is the number of recommendations per scenario within norms?

Quality

  • Is the number of parameters per node within norms?
  • Is the number of deviations per node within norms?
  • Is the balance between equipment failures, human failures, and external events as scenario cause within norms?
  • Is the number of scenarios causes per node within norms?
  • Is the number of hazardous events per scenario within norms?
  • Is the number of consequences per scenario cause within  norms?
  • Is the number of consequences per hazardous events within norms?
  • Is the number of conditional modifiers per consequence within norms?
  • Is the number of enablers per scenario within norms?
  • Is the number of safeguards per consequence, including any IPL safeguards, within norms?
  • Is the number of IPL safeguards per consequence within norms?
  • Is the number of information needs per node within norms?
