Course Description

This course focuses on OSHA and EPA requirements for process safety management. OSHA's Process Safety Management (PSM) Standard (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA's Risk Management Program (RMP) rule (40 CFR Part 68) both require the development and implementation of a program to prevent catastrophic accidents for covered processes.

This course explains how to ensure your prevention program is designed to meet the requirements of these performance-based regulations and implemented through an effective management system. It provides an understanding of what is required for compliance with the process safety regulations and guidance on how to ensure programs are properly implemented.

What you will learn:

  • Requirements of OSHA’s PSM standard
  • Requirements of EPA’s RMP rule
  • Coverage of the regulations
  • Requirements for each process safety element
  • Implementation guidelines for each process safety element
  • How to document compliance with requirements for each process safety element
  • How to develop and implement a process safety management system
