Facility Siting in Process Hazard Analysis

Facility siting is an important component of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) that addresses how the location of people, occupied buildings, and other facility features can affect the consequences of process safety incidents.

This self-paced eLearning course provides a practical overview of facility siting requirements, evaluation methods, and industry guidance. Learners will explore lessons from major process safety incidents and examine how fire, explosion, and toxic release hazards may affect occupied buildings and personnel.

The course addresses qualitative and quantitative facility siting approaches, consequence modeling, building vulnerability and occupancy considerations, and methods for incorporating facility siting into a PHA. It also introduces relevant regulatory requirements and industry guidance, including API RP 752 and API RP 753.

Practical examples and exercises reinforce how facility siting issues can be recognized, evaluated, documented, and addressed.

Prerequisite
