HAZOP Fundamentals
This training is offered as an eLearning course for individual registration
1 hour | $149
This eLearning course provides a practical introduction to Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies and the key concepts used to identify process deviations and potential hazards. Participants will learn how HAZOP studies use design intent, parameters, guidewords, and deviations to systematically evaluate process operations and identify potential concerns.
The course explains the importance of clearly defining design intent and demonstrates how incomplete design intent can result in missed deviations, missed scenarios, and incomplete studies. Participants will also learn how guidewords are applied to process parameters, how meaningful deviations are generated, and how common mistakes can occur during HAZOP studies.
Through practical examples and exercises, the course also introduces scenario development, safeguards, recommendations, and the attribute test used to support logical deviation generation.
What you will learn:
HAZOP fundamentals and terminology
Design intent and its importance
Parameters and parameter selection
Standard HAZOP guidewords
Generating meaningful deviations
Common HAZOP mistakes
Scenario development concepts
Safeguards and recommendations
Applying the attribute test
Practical HAZOP exercises and examples
Who Should Attend
This course is intended for personnel who participate in or support HAZOP and Process Hazard Analysis studies, including:
