Understanding and Applying Management Systems for Health, Safety,
Security, Quality and Environmental Protection
Course Description Many organizations manage sureties such as safety,
environmental protection, security, and quality using formal management systems.
Management of such sureties is often addressed by industry standards such as ISO
9000, ISO 14000, ISO 22000, API RP750, and the Responsible Care Management
System of the American Chemistry Council, and government regulations such as
OSHA's Process Safety Management standard and EPA's Risk Management Program
rule. Such management systems have many common elements and they all rest on a
foundation of policies, procedures and work instructions. People responsible for
these systems must understand how to ensure these systems operate efficiently
and effectively. This training course addresses that need. Poorly
designed and operated programs result in wasted resources, possible regulatory
violations and can create legal liabilities. Coordination of the management of
all these sureties is the preferred cost-efficient approach and helps avoid
conflicts that can arise between individual systems. The
course provides guidelines and instruction applicable to all parts of a
management system. Examples and practical exercises are included. You will also
receive a model of a management system that can be used with any surety.
Objective
Provide instruction on how to properly design, implement, and
improve management systems using human factors principles.
Target Audience
Personnel with responsibility for or involvement in the
management of sureties such as safety, environmental protection, security and
quality.
Prerequisite
Prior experience or knowledge of the sureties of interest.
