Software FAQs

This FAQ assumes you are using older versions of Primatech software.  To determine if your software is considered legacy see Is my software considered legacy.

What are my installation options?

Stand-Alone (run with hard disk key):

Install the software on one computer and activate the software key (activation code provided from Primatech) on the hard disk. Pros are that no dongle is required to run the software. Cons are that the software can only be run on one computer. The software key can be moved between hard disks without contacting Primatech.

Stand-Alone (run with USB Dongle):

Install the software on any number of computers and users would share the dongle to run the software. For example, John runs the software and when he is done he gives the dongle to Mary to run the software. Pros are that an unlimited number of users can share the software. Cons are the logistics of sharing the dongle. When requested, the dongle is shipped activated ready to use. Cost for the USB Dongle is $100 per each licensed copy. Please note that the number of USB Dongles available for purchase is equal to the number of licenses that were purchased and not using a different key.

Network (run with key on the network):

Install the software on any number of computers and activate and share the software key (activation code provided from Primatech) from the network. Pros are that unlimited number of people can share the software. Cons are that if you are not connected to the network, you cannot run the software. However, there is an option to check keys out from the network license to a computer so you can use the software when not connected to the network (contact Primatech for additional information). The program files must be installed on a local drive.
